ABOUT DR. SADAKA
Dr. Ama Sadaka is an American board-certified ophthalmologist sub-specialized in Neuro-Ophthalmology and Oculoplastic Surgery.
She graduated from the American University of Beirut in Lebanon and subsequently pursued a postdoctoral research fellowship in Ophthalmology at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, Harvard Medical School in the USA. She then completed a residency in Ophthalmology at the University of Cincinnati Hospital in Ohio, USA, followed by fellowship training in Neuro-Ophthalmology and Oculoplastic Surgery at the Houston Methodist Hospital in Texas, USA.
Dr. Sadaka specializes in surgical and non-surgical procedures inside the eye and around it. She sees patients with general ophthalmologic conditions including patients with cataract, glaucoma, dry eyes, and myopia. She also does cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the eyelids, orbits, and lacrimal system such as cosmetic eyelid procedures, excessive tearing, thyroid eye disease, and others. Her ophthalmology background provides her with an advantage in this field since she has a better appreciation of eyelid function and ocular health, especially when performing eyelid surgeries. In addition, her unique neuro-ophthalmic training allows her to bridge ophthalmology and neurology. She manages patients with cranial neuropathies, double vision, nystagmus, stroke, and tumors.
In addition to her education and training in the USA, she is an active member of several professional and honorary societies such as Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA), American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) and North American Neuro-Ophthalmology Society (NANOS). She has published multiple papers and book chapters. Dr. Sadaka currently has a clinic at the LAU Medical Center Rizk Hospital and retains privileges at several other hospitals in Lebanon.
